Grapefruit Paloma Adrenal Mocktail

Shift into Spring with intentional nutrition that will have you feeling energized & refocused.

What is an Adrenal Mocktail?

Adrenal Mocktails are beverages crafted to support your adrenal glands by simultaneously reducing stress, and boosting your energy. This is done by mixing ingredients that are high in Vitamin C, Potassium & high quality Sodium. Once combined, these ingredients make a natural electrolyte drink that will help to regulate & support bodily function. There are a few different ways in which this is done, but before we get into that, why don't we learn a little bit more about electrolytes first, and how they support our overall health.

Electrolytes

Electrolytes are, put simply, minerals that carry electrical charges that support the body's natural functions. Anything from your heart beat to your PH balance, electrolytes & minerals are being used. We come across electrolytes naturally throughout the day with a healthy diet, but high levels of stress and cortisol deplete the body's stores quickly. This drop can leave you feeling depleted and burnt out by the time lunch rolls around. Instead of reaching for the midday coffee, try looking for mineral rich foods to support your adrenal glands, reduce cortisol levels and boost electrolytes, like our Grapefruit Paloma Adrenal Mocktail.

  • 1 Cup Carbonated Water (Elderflower infused if you can find it)

  • The Juice of 2 Large Grapefruits

  • 1 Tbsp Rosemary Infused Honey

1. Juice your room temperature grapefruits & lime together into a pitcher, and add in your infused honey, make sure to stir this mixture well until the honey completely dissolved.

2. Add in your coconut water, your apple cider vinegar, & sea salt, making sure once again to stir well.

3. Go ahead and add in your carbonated water, it is important to add this last to keep it as bubbly as possible before stirring gently one last time.

4. If you're serving this up right away, you can go ahead and add in your ice, if you'd like to leave it chill in the fridge for a while, I recommend waiting until you serve.

Note: Grapefruit interacts with most medications. As always, consult your health care practitioner before using herbal supplements. If you'd still like to make this mocktail, I recommend swapping it for a different citrus or high vitamin c juices like cranberry or pineapple.

It should be noted that grapefruit has many drug interactions. Be mindful of this and as always, when it comes to using herbal products and supplements, the importance and necessity to consult your healthcare provider prior to use is invaluable.  Herbs may have side effects, cause individual sensitivities, or interact with medications.  I am an herbalist, my goal is to help you support your overall health and wellness. I am NOT a licensed health care practitioner, my consultations do NOT replace those of a healthcare provider. I cannot stress enough how western medicine and traditional wellness can and should be used hand in hand. Thank you and stay safe.
